History Of The Ground - Post-war to 2007

On the 25th November 1963 Lancing was hit by a 60 second whirlwind, which damaged numerous properties including part of Lancing football clubs boundary wall. Culver Road was in the centre of the hit area. The north wall, about 130 yards long and more than 6ft high, was made of four inch thick concrete blocks. Even with buttresses every 10ft the wall still collapsed. Mr. John Brown, the Lancing secretary at the time said that he was shocked when he saw the extent of the damage. It was thought it would cost approx £300 to repair.
